SFTC picks for Sunday, March 10

I have updated my picks with those that were added after last night.

There were a ton of crazy games today and many picks that could easily go both ways.  It's shaping up to be one CRAZY tournament!

Sorry I'm so late with these, but here are my picks for SFTC.  The props marked with a * are those also featured on SIU.

My top 2 "stash" picks are:
  1. Soccer:  Manchester United Win
  2. Golf:  Tiger wins by 2+ strokes
My picks for every prop:
  1. Soccer:  Montpelier Win/Draw
    • These teams are 6th and 7th in their league table.  In their last 5 head-to-head matches, Montpelier has won every time.  They both have similar records and recent form, so I really like the draw option here.  I just don't follow French League Soccer, but all signs point to the draw.
    • Confidence: 70%
  2. *Soccer:  Tottenham Hotspurs Win/Draw
    • The Spurs are one of the hottest teams in the Premier League, if not in Europe.  Gareth Bale and company are just playing phenomenal soccer right now.  A draw or Tottenham win seem very likely here.
    • Confidence: 70%
  3. NCAAM:  Liberty 3 pointers made or tie
    • I'm not sure about this one.  Charleston Southern won at Liberty by 4.  This is a tournament final,  so I expect it to be close like most of the tournament games have been so far.
    • Confidence: 60%
  4. *NCAAM:  VCU Rams
    • This is the first meeting between these schools this season.  Temple is riding a 6 game win streak into this game, and is 13 - 3 at home.  VCU is favored by 2 and is 8 - 2 on the road.  VCU destroyed Butler a couple weeks ago, and pulled away late against Richmond.  They have a frenetic defence, but the home team won a ton yesterday, so I wouldn't be surprised if Temple gets the upset here.
    • Confidence:  60%
  5. *Soccer:  Manchester United Win
    • Chelsea is just bad right now.  They seem to not care or have any spirit or gusto. I just can't see a draw or United losing this match.
    • Confidence: 80%
  6. *NHL:  Washington Capitals
    • The Caps lost last night, but I expect them to win today.  Both teams may be tired, but I give the edge to the Caps since they're at home.
    • Confidence: 60%
  7. NCAAM:  Illinois Win/Single Digit Loss
    • Right now, Ohio State is favored by exactly 10.  Illinois beat Ohio State by 19 back in January.  Illinois has been inconsistent this season, but have shown that they can beat or compete with top teams on the road.  This is a tough one to call though.
    • Confidence:  50%
  8. NBA:  Celtics Win/Single Digit Loss
    • The Thunder have been beating a lot of teams by double digits at home.  They are favored by 10.5 in this game.  I think the Celtics can keep it close, and the Celtics did beat them in OT in Boston back in November.
    • Confidence:  60%
  9. NCW:  North Carolina Win/Single digit loss
    • This is an ACC tournament game and is played in Greensboro, North Carolina.  It is a virtual home game for both teams.  Last time they played, Duke only won by 8.  Games always seem to be close come tournament time.
    • Confidence:  60%
  10. NCAAM:  Creighton Bluejays
    • This should be a great game.  Creighton is currently favored by 3, and beat Witchita St. by 12 the last time they played.  Still it's the conference tournament final, so it should be close, and a great game.  Creighton has just been playing a bit better of late.
    • Confidence:  70%
  11. Golf:  Tiger wins by 2+ strokes
    • Tiger currently leads the entire field, and leads the closest competitor, McDowell by 4 strokes.
    • Confidence:  80%
  12. Other:  Any Other Team
    • I really have no idea on this one, it just seems more logical to pick any other team since it provides a lot more options (a lot more cars to choose from).
    • Confidence: 40%
  13. *NBA:  Los Angeles Lakers
    • Kobe and the Lakers are trying desperately to make the playoffs.  They are very motivated to win every game from here on out.  The Lakers are currently favored by 5.5
    • Confidence:  70%
  14. *NCAAM:  Michigan
    • Wow another tough basketball pick.  Indiana is favored by 1, which doesn't really mean anything.  I give the edge to Michigan since they are at home.
    • Confidence:  60%
  15. NCW:  Michigan St.
    • I'm really not sure on this one.  Both teams have beaten each other on the road.  They both look very similar on paper.  I just give the slight edge to Michigan St.
    • Confidence:  40%
  16. Other:  USA wins by 2+ runs
    • USA beat Italy 6 - 2 yesterday, and Canada beat Mexico 10 - 3, who beat USA 5 - 1.  Italy also beat Mexico 6 - 5.  How to make sense of all this?  Anything can happen in baseball.  The only players I recognized from Canada were Brett Lawrie and Joey Votto.  USA should win this and cover the spread, but Canada could keep it close and win.
    • Confidence:  60%
  17. NHL:  Montreal Canadiens
    • The Canadiens have played extremely well on the road, winning their past 4 road games.
    • Confidence: 60%
  18. NBA:  Orlando Magic
    • The Magic just beat the 76ers in Philadelphia at the end of February.  The 76ers are favored by 2.  The Magic have been playing well lately though.
    • Confidence:  70%
  19. NCW:  Kentucky Wildcats
    • Kentucky has beaten Texas A&M both times they have played this season.  They were close games, but Kentucky is the best in the SEC and should win the title.
    • Confidence:  70%
  20. NCAAM:  Maryland Win/Single Digit Loss
    • I know the home won a ton yesterday, but I think this one stays close.  Maryland can really compete.
    • Confidence:  70%
  21. Golf:  Par (4)
    • In Round 1, Tiger shot a 3 on hole 18.  In Round 2, Tiger shot a 4 on this hole.  In Round 3, he shot a 3 again.  I see a pattern here, so I'm gonna go with 4+ strokes on hole 18.
    • Confidence:  50%
  22. NBA:  New Orleans Hornets
    • The line is Hornets - 2.5.  The Hornets beat the Trailblazers by nearly 30 last time these two played each other.  Portland is coming off of a huge win over top-ranked San Antonio.  I think they have a let down here and the Hornets get a much-needed win.
    • Confidence:  50%
  23. NHL:  Winnipeg Jets
    • The Jets have been money on SFTC lately.  The Devils are still so lost without Brodeur, their leading goalie.
    • Confidence: 60%
  24. Other:  Any Other Result
    • The Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico seem like pretty even teams.  They both have high-caliber players from the major leagues and have had similar results in their games so far.
    • Confidence: 60%
  25. Other:  4 hits or fewer
    • In their last couple games, these two teams have had at most 9 hits for the entire game.  I know that averages to 1 run per inning, so for 3 innings that would be 6 runs, but they have been playing inferior competition until now.  Still, # of hits in baseball games can be hard to predict, so I wouldn't pick this with a high streak.
    • Confidence: 60%
  26. NHL:  Colorado Avalanche
    • The Sharks are still horrid on offense.  The Avalanche are coming off a HUGE win over league-leading Chicago Blackhawks.
    • Confidence: 60%
  27. NHL:  Anaheim Ducks
    • The Ducks are still one of the top teams in the league.
    • Confidence: 60%
  28. NCAAW:  Any Other Result
    • Stanford is clearly the better team by far, but if you haven't learned it from yesterday, in tournament games the spread is almost never covered.
    • Confidence: 60%
  29. Other:  Yes, 1+ XBH
    • Confidence 50%
  30. *NBA:  Milwaukee Bucks
    • The Bucks have been great as of late.  I keep noticing the Kings are winning as well though.  The line is currently Kings by 1.  This should be a close game!
    • Confidence:  50%
  31. *Soccer:  New York Red Bulls
    • I'm just predicting the draw here.
    • Confidence: 50%
