Back at it tomorrow

I just want to apologize for not having picks/writeups the last few days.  As I've said in my last few posts, the end of the semester is super busy for me with finishing up semester projects and getting ready for finals.  Please bear with me as I finish up the semester and can then get back to posting full time.

I will do my best to do what I can.  Mainly I'm just asking and hoping that you'll continue to follow the site and continue to help spread the word.

Thank you for all of your support and good luck with your picks!

SFTC Picks for April 27

Our streak of consective days of our top stash pick winning is now 6!  Let's keep it going!  Before we give our picks for every prop, we have a couple reminders.

Important:  As my school semester is winding down, I am busy with projects and studying for finals, so the next couple weeks I'll most likely not do write-ups, but will just give my picks for every prop.  Trust me, I still research the props though.  I hope you'll still continue to check the site often and continue to help me spread the word by telling all of your friends.  If you haven't yet, we invite you to also follow us on Twitter (@TheFantasySC).  Also, feel free to leave a comment and let us know how we're doing.

Streak for the Cash picks for April 24

For yesterday being the second-lowest win percentage day of all of April, we did pretty good.  We were just 2 games below .500 on all props, but incredibly, we were undefeated in all NBA props yesterday, going 5 - 0!!  We also got our top stash pick correct as well.  Let's keep it going!  Before we give our picks, we have a couple reminders.

SFTC picks for April 23

We had a pretty good day yesterday, going 13 - 8 overall and winning our top stash pick.  It's good to be back after missing a couple days.  We've noticed a drop in site views over the last few days and we hope you'll help us get the word back out again.

We will definitely do Beat the Streak and 1-N-Done write-ups tomorrow, but they will not be posted until the morning.  We'll let you know when they're up.  Thanks for visiting, and good luck with your picks!

Our top stash pick:
  1. NBA:  Warriors win or single digit loss

Our picks for every prop:
  1. Soccer:  Jihlava Win or Draw
    • Jihlava is in position 9 and Ostrava position 14 in the table.  Jihlava has 2 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss in their last 5.  Ostrava has 1 win and 4 losses in their last 5.  Jihlava won 3 - 2 that last time they played head to head back in September.  All signs seem to point to Jihlava win/draw.
    • Confidence: 60%
  2. Soccer:  Bayern Munich Win
    • A lot depends on if Messi plays for Barcelona.  If he plays, I think Barcelona has a good chance of drawing.  If not, I think they will lose.  Bayern Munich has completely dominated the Budesliga this year.  They beat both of their last two opponents 6 - 1, they have only lost once in their last 30 matches, and they have scored 89 and conceded just 14 goals this season.  Being at home just adds to their cause.
    • Confidence: 60%
  3. Soccer:  Yes Bayern Munich leads at least once in the first half
    • Bayern should come out firing on all cylinders and will want to score as much as possible.
    • Confidence: 50%
  4. MLB:  Colorado Rockies
  5. Soccer:  Yes Barcelona scores 1+ goal in the 2nd half
  6. MLB:  Baltimore Orioles
  7. MLB:  Washington Nationals
  8. NHL:  Montreal Canadiens
  9. NHL:  New York Islanders
  10. MLB:  New York Mets
  11. NHL:  Boston Bruins
  12. NBA:  Any Other Result
  13. NHL:  Minnesota Wild
  14. NHL:  Nashville Predators
  15. MLB:  Minnesota Twins
  16. MLB:  Seattle Mariners
  17. NBA:  Knicks Winning Margin
  18. NBA:  Carmello Anthony or Tie
  19. MLB:  Colorado Rockies
  20. NBA:   3 or 4
  21. MLB:  Texas Rangers
  22. MLB:  Milwaukee Brewers
  23. MLB:  San Francisco Giants
  24. NBA:  Warriors win or single digit loss

We're back with SFTC picks for today, April 22

Well after a crazy weekend, we're back to making picks, doing write-ups, and helping you with your fantasy games!  It's good to back!

Obviously we missed making the 1st pick of the day.  In case you were wondering, our pick was Slovia Prague Win, which they did 1 - 0.  We have the mid-day soccer props done, and will finish the rest of the props soon, so keep checking back.

We'll also do beat the streak and 1-N-Done write-ups later today for tomorrow.

Our top stash pick:
  1. NHL:  Anaheim Ducks

Our picks for every prop:
  1. Soccer:  Manchester United wins by 2+
    • Man U will be motivated to win this game to secure their place at the top of the league table and to show people what they're really about.  In the last match between these two, ManU was down by 2 goals and came back to win 3 - 2.  That game was at Aston Villa.  This time ManU is at home, and they'll come out firing.
    • Confidence:  70%
  2. Soccer:  Yes Manchester United is leading at halftime
    • The only way I see the no option winning this prop is a 0 - 0 score.  I will be very surprised if Aston Villa is leading at the half.  I'll also be surprised if it's a 0 - 0 game.  ManU should come out attacking and will want to score early so as not to have to come from behind to win.
    • Confidence: 70%
  3. Soccer:  2 or more goals scored in the 2nd half
    • Clearly you'll want to see how the first half goes, how the teams are playing, and most importantly, the halftime score.  If less than 3 goals are scored in the 1st half, then I really like this option.  Update:  even though the halftime score is 3 - 0, I still like the 2+ option.  Aston Villa desperately needs some goals, and I don't think ManU will lay off the pressure.  (For the record, I think it's idiotic to not give 100% for the entire game.  Teams "laying off" in the second half is lazy and ridiculous.)
    • Confidence: 60%
  4. MLB:  Oakland As
    • My heart says Red Sox, but my head and all the stats say As.  After getting swept by the Rays in their last series, the As are desperate to get back to winning games.  The Red Sox have blown leads in their last 2 games at home, and have lost 8 straight games to the As, who have hit .356 and outscored the Red Sox 54 - 15 in that span.  For whatever reason, the Red Sox have major problems beating the As, especially Doubront.  He is 0 - 2 with a 12.86 ERA against them in his last 2 starts.  A.J. Griffin on the other hand is 1 - 0 with a 2.08 ERA in his 2 starts against Boston, and although he has never pitched at Fenway, he is 5 - 1 with a 2.61 ERA in his last 8 road starts.  The line is Boston -132, but I'm nervously taking Oakland.
    • Confidence: 60%
  5. MLB:  Tampa Bay Rays
    • After a really sluggish start to the season, the Rays seem to be back on track.  They're coming off a series sweep of what were the red-hot As.  They have a great history against the Yankees, winning 11 of 13 at home over the last 2 years.  Matt Moore has been outstanding for the Rays, winning his last 4 starts and allowing just his first 2 runs of the season yesterday.  Sabbathia meanwhile hasn't fared well against the Rays.  He's won just 1 of his last 8 starts at Tampa Bay.  The line is Rays -115.
    • Confidence: 65%
  6. MLB:  Baltimore Orioles
    • Baltimore won 7 of 9 meetings against the Blue Jays last season.  They are in good position to continue their home success.  Tillman has struggled a little bit for the Orioles, but the Blue Jays have only won consecutive games this season once before, and Happ has not been spectacular for the Blue Jays either.  The line is Baltimore -118.
    • Confidence: 60%
  7. MLB:  Pittsburgh Pirates
    • The Pirates are coming off of an impressive series win against the Braves, and have won their last 3 straight.  The Phillies haven't looked spectacular this season, and are starting a pitcher that is brand new to the major leagues.  It's likely that he'll be rusty and nervous, even though the Phillies are at home for this game.  The line, at -106, is not heavily in favor of Pittsburgh, but Burnett has been very solid for them this season and leads the NL with 35 strikeouts.
    • Confidence: 70%
  8. NHL:  Winnipeg Jets
    • The Jets still have a chance, however slim it might be, of making the postseason.  I really doubt they make it though.  They have only made the postseason once (in '06 - '07), and would have to overtake the Rangers to make it twice.  Still, Buffalo is already eliminated from playoff contention, so they really have nothing to play for, and the Jets have been very successful against them.  They have outscored Buffalo 15 - 5 and allowed them to score only 1 goal in each game, over their last 5 match-ups.  Their goalie has a 1.00 GAA against Buffalo in his last 5 starts.
    • Confidence: 80%
  9. MLB:  St. Louis Cardinals
    • I'm a little torn on this pick, but I have to go with the Cardinals in this one.  Haren has not been good for the Nationals.  He is 1 - 2 with a 8.10 ERA so far this season.  Shelby Miller on the other hand is 2 - 1 with a 1.96 ERA.  I think the Cards win this game, though they may not win the series.
    • Confidence: 70%
  10. MLB:  Rays hits or tie
    • In all of Sabbathia's starts this season, he has lost this type of prop.  The trend continues tonight.  The tie option may be huge, but I think the Rays win the prop outright.
    • Confidence: 70%
  11. NHL:  Ottawa Senators
    • Despite the Penguins' success against the Senators, I'm going to take a chance with the Senators in this one.  They need this win more than Pittsburgh does as they're fighting off elimination from the playoff race.  They also had a big upset over the Caps on Thursday, in a prop that ended many streaks.  I'm not very confident in this pick but I just have a feeling the Senators might win this one at home.
    • Confidence: 40%
  12. NHL:  Phoenix Coyotes
    • The Coyotes just beat the Blackhawks on Saturday and are 2 - 0 - 2 in their last 4 road games. Detroit is just 1 - 3 - 2 in their last 6 home games.  These teams have played each other twice this season, both games in Phoenix, with each team winning one.
    • Confidence: 60%
  13. MLB:  Cleveland Indians
    • Masterson has been awesome for the Indians so far this season!  He is 3 - 1 with a 1.67 ERA. Axelrod is 0 - 1 with a 4.70 ERA, and the White Sox have lost 3 straight.  The Indians should give Masterson the run support he needs, as they have gotten their offense going again after their series against the Astros.
    • Confidence: 60%
  14. NBA:  Nets Winning Margin
    • The Nets just destroyed the Bulls in game 1, winning by 17.  The Bulls only made 2 3-pointers in that game.  The line for this game is Nets -5.5, and I do think it will be a closer game than in game 1, but the Bulls just don't make a ton of 3s, and the Nets are just playing really in rhythm right now.
    • Confidence: 70%
  15. NHL:  Anaheim Ducks
    • Edmonton is now officially out of the playoffs, and have not been since 2006.  The Ducks are inches away from a division title, and winning this game will all but ensure that.  They just beat the Oilers 3 - 1 on Sunday, and have won 13 of the last 15 meetings against the Oilers.  I will be completely shocked if the Ducks lose this game.
    • Confidence: 80%
  16. NHL:  Chicago Blackhawks
    • This is a meeting between two great teams.  Each team has won the regular season meetings at home.  I think Vancouver is very capable of winning this game, especially at home.  I just think the Blackhawks are a little bit better and steal one on the road tonight.
    • Confidence: 50%
  17. MLB:  Texas Rangers
    • The Rangers have been hitting very well, and Blanton has been anything but impressive, losing every start this season while recording a 8.59 ERA.  The Rangers' pitching has been great however.  Holland will get the start tonight.  He is 1 - 1 with a 1.64 ERA on the season.  The Rangers won 2 of 3 in the previous series against the Angels.
    • Confidence: 60%
  18. MLB:  Milwaukee Brewers
    • The Padres have lost their last 5 straight at home.  Kyle Lohse has been awesome for the Brewers.  Nothing else to say.
    • Confidence: 70%
  19. MLB:  San Francisco Giants
    • The Giants have been awesome against their division foes, going 8 - 1.  The Giants win this one at home.
    • Confidence: 60%
  20. NBA:  Clippers winning margin
    • Randolph had 6 field goals and the Clippers won by 21 in game 1.  I really don't think Randolph has too many more field goals made in game 2 than in game 1.  The line is Clippers -6, but I think they win by at least double digits.
    • Confidence: 70%

1-N-Done Playoffs Starting

We have made our first post about the new NBA playoffs game 1-N-Done.  You can check it out by clicking on the Basketball Games tab above.  Please share the site with your friends!  You can also follow us on Twitter (@TheFantasySC) for updates on players and other news.  There is also a link on the Basketball Games site as well as in the box to the left for you to join our group for this game.  We hope to see you there!

Streak For The Cash Picks, April 19

Our Beat the Streak picks are now posted on our Baseball Games site.  There are some great hitters to choose from, so check them out and good luck!

We will also be covering ESPN's new NBA playoffs game 1-N-Done on our Basketball games site.  The playoffs start tomorrow, so make sure and create an entry soon.  We will have a link in the Join Our Groups box for you to join our group.  We'll post an announcement on here and on Twitter later today when it's all done.  This looks like a really fun and interesting game, and these playoff series should be intense!

We are obviously posting today's picks late, and missed posting about the first 5 picks.  In case you're wondering, our picks were Graeme McDowell, Teplice W/D, Jim Furyk or Tie, Any Other Result, and Lyon W/D.  As a word of caution, I probably wouldn't take our top "stash" picks with anything higher than a W10.

Our top "stash" pick:

  1. NHL:  New York Rangers
  2. MLB:  Detroit Tigers

Our picks for all remaining props today:

  1. NHL:  New York Rangers
    • It took a small miracle for Buffalo to win Wednesday against the Bruins, scoring with 26 second left and winning the shootout.  One more loss for them and they're all but eliminated from playoff contention.  The Rangers had a sub-par game against Philadelphia on Tuesday, but bounced back and beat Florida 6 - 1 on Thursday.  The Rangers' goalie, Henrik Lundqvist, has allowed 2 or fewer goals in 13 of his last 15 starts, with a 1.68 GAA in that span.
    • Confidence: 70%
  2. MLB:  Toronto Blue Jays
    • This game features two good pitchers, Pettite and Morrow.  Morrow has won back-to-back games against the Yankees, hasn't given up a run in 16 innings against them, and is 3 - 1 with a 1.30 ERA in his last four starts against them.  Pettitte has allowed 3 or fewer runs in 4 straight starts against the Blue Jays.  This should be a great game.  With Jose Bautista likely back for the Blue Jays, and Jeter, Granderson, and Texeira still out for the Yankees, I'm going with the Blue Jays at home.
    • Confidence: 60%
  3. MLB:  Oakland Athletics
    • The Oaklans A's are off to their best start in a long time.  They have the best record in the American League, and are undefeated on the road this season.  They have had great success in the Rays' home park, winning 6 of  9, and three straight series.  The Rays have come to life a little bit lately, but their offense still struggles mightily, and we all know what the As' offense can do.
    • Confidence: 70%
  4. MLB:  Cleveland Indians
    • This is a matchup between two of the worst teams in baseball.  Houston has lost 11 games this season, including their last 5.  Cleveland has lost their last 9 games, including their last 4.  Neither pitcher has been great this season either.  Even though Houston is at home, the line is Cleveland -110, and I think Cleveland is the better of these two bad teams.
    • Confidence: 60%
  5. MLB:  Milwaukee Brewers
    • The Brewers seemed dead in the water a few days ago.  Sweeping the world-series champion Giants has sure helped them gain some confidence.  They have won 15 of 17 against the Cubs at home, and five straight overall.  Estrada has won 3 straight against the Cubs, and has gone 3 - 0 with a 1.50 ERA in his last four starts against them.  Samardzija had a great opening day start, but has lost his last 2 starts.  He is 0 - 2 with a 3.18 ERA in 3 starts against the Brewers.  The Brewers at home seems pretty good.  If they can sweep the Giants, they should be able to beat the Cubs.
    • Confidence: 70%
  6. Soccer:  Club Leon Win
    • I know nothing about the Mexican Premier League, but the latest line I've seen is Leon -208.  That is pretty good odds.  Both of these teams are at the bottom of the table.  That's about all I know.
    • Confidence: 50%
  7. Soccer: 31st minute or later or no goal in the 1st half
    • I definitely would not pick this unless you know these teams well or you're going for monthly wins.  I'm going with 31st minute or later or no goal because these teams are at the bottom of the table which means they don't score a lot of goals.  I think it's pretty likely the score is 0-0 at the half which would also win this prop.
    • Confidence: 50%
  8. MLB:  Colorado Rockies
    • The Rockies are 6 - 0 at home for the first time in franchise history, and have won their last 6 overall this season.  The Diamonbacks send Ian Kennedy to the mound, who has had some good success against the Rockies of late, going 3 - 1 with a 1.80 ERA over his last 5 starts against them. The Rockies counter with Jhoulys Chacin, who is 3 - 2 with a 2.81 ERA  over 9 career starts against the Diamondbacks.  The DBacks have won 10 of 16 in Colorado, but it's hard to ignore the Rockies recent success, especially at home.  I think the cold weather also plays into the Rockies' hands as they are more accustomed to playing in those conditions. Tho be honest though, I'm just a little nervous about this pick.
    • Confidence: 50%
  9. NHL:  Edmonton Oilers
    • The Oilers have lost 6 straight, but they still have a shot at making the playoffs, albeit a long shot.  The Avalanche are already eliminated from playoff contention (for the 3rd straight season), so they don't really have anything to play for.  Needless to say, the Oilers are extremely motivated to get a win here.  It's probably one of the easiest wins for them remaining on their schedule, and to make the playoffs, they pretty much have to win this game.
    • Confidence: 70%
  10. Soccer: 63rd minute or later or no goal
    • You'll want to see how the first half goes.  If the score is 0 - 0 at the half, an early 2nd half goal may be likely.  In all reality, this is a toss up pick, but since these teams don't score many goals, this 63rd minute or later or no goal seems like the best option.
    • Confidence: 50%
  11. MLB:  Detroit Tigers
    • The Angels are probably wishing they wouldn't have let Torii Hunter go.  He is batting .418, with hits in each of his last 10 games for the Tigers.  After telling Hunter he was let go because of a lack of money, the Angels will shell out $125 million over 5 years for his replacement, Josh Hamilton. Hamilton has not lived up to expectations, much like Pujols at the start of last season.    At any rate, the Tigers should win this game not just because they have great hitters, but they have one of the best pitchers starting tonight.  Anibal Sanchez is 2 - 0 with a 1.42 ERA and is limiting opponents to a .152 batting average.  The Angels on the other hand can contribute many of their losses to their poor pitching, as their pitching staff has a league-worst 6.07 ERA.  Tommy Hanson is 1 - 1 with a 6.55 ERA so far this season.
    • Confidence: 75%

We had a pretty good day yesterday, going 14 - 8 overall.  There were a couple of ones that were classic SFTC endings that just happened to go our way.  An example was that Peru held on for a draw against Mexico despite several great scoring chances for Mexico.  These kind of results are what makes this game so fun and so frustrating at the same time!

We'd love to hear from you all about how the site is helping you with your picks.  Don't hesitate to leave a comment or send us a tweet (@TheFantasySC).  This site is for you, so we'd like to know how you're enjoying it!

As a word of caution, I feel pretty confident about our top stash pick, but I probably wouldn't pick it with a streak of higher than 12.  The props marked with a * are also featured on Streak It Up.

Our top "stash" pick:
  1. MLB:  Adam Wainwright
Our picks for all props:
  1. Golf:  Jason Day
    • The tie option used to be money on these 9 hole props.  That has not been the case lately.  Jason Day had a great Master's tournament, coming in third I believe.  Simpson really struggled.  Day should take this prop, but I wouldn't be super surprised if the tie option ended up winning.
    • Confidence: 60%
  2. Soccer:  Skarbovik Win or Draw
    • I must warn you that I know absolutely nothing about Norweigan soccer.  But then again, who does?  If you do, you're welcome to post on our blog anytime.  From the research I found, the draw option seems like the best option.  The odds are pretty much even, these teams have not played each other since 2002, and they both seem to do one thing well: lose soccer matches.  They only have one win and one draw between them in each team's last 5 games.
    • Confidence: 40%
  3. Golf:  Matt Kuchar
    • Kuchar is the better golfer, and on the first round, I think Kuchar will come out stronger.  Dufner seems to struggle in the first rounds of tournaments.
    • Confidence: 60%
  4. MLB:  San Francisco Giants
    • The Brewers won the first two games by a combined 3 runs.  The Giants have been close to winning both times, but just couldn't quite pull it out in the end.  I really don't think they'll get swept in this series.  Cain will get his first win of the season.
    • Confidence: 70%
  5. *Other:  Panathinaikos
    • All of the games between these teams have been very close.  Barcelona won game 1 by 2 in OT.  Panathinaikos won game 2 by 1 and game 3 by 2.  I don't know a ton about these teams, ok I know nothing about these teams, but Panathinaikos is slightly favored and is at home, so I think they'll squeak out another close win.
    • Confidence: 50%
  6. *NHL:  Toronto Maple Leafs
    • The Maple Leafs were beat soundly (5 - 1) by the Capitals in their last game, and didn't look like they had much energy.  I think returning home will be a huge boost for them.  They are 12 - 3 - 2 in their last 17 at home.  The Islanders have been great on the road this season, but the Maple Leafs win this one at home and make it the playoffs for the first time since 2004.
    • Confidence: 60%
  7. MLB:  Atlanta Braves
    • The line is Braves -110.  I think the line is so close mainly because of the Pirates' recent win streak and Teheran's last outing against the Nationals.  However, I think the Braves still win. Yes Teheran gave up 4 runs in the first 2 innings of his last start, but he did settle in and the Braves ended up winning 6 - 4.  The Braves have been on a roll lately, and start a new winning streak tonight.
    • Confidence: 70%
  8. MLB:  St. Louis Cardinals
    • Sorry Phillies fans, but I just don't trust Cole Hamels right now.  Wainwright has definitely been the better pitcher of the two this season.  And unfortunately for the Phillies, I think their losing streak continues tonight.
    • Confidence: 60%
  9. *MLB:  Baltimore Orioles
    • The Orioles have alternated wins and losses over their last 6 games.  The trend continues tonight.  Price is winless this season.  The trend continues tonight.  Orioles win this one.
    • Confidence: 70%
  10. *MLB:  Arizona Diamondbacks
    • Patrick Corbin (1.50 ERA) has won his 2 starts this season, and has looked very good doing it.  Phil Hughes (10.29 ERA) has been the polar opposite, losing both of his starts while allowing opponents to hit .472 off of him.  The DBacks avoid the series sweep tonight.
    • Confidence: 70%
  11. MLB:  Adam Wainwright
    • Wainwright has 24 Ks through his first 3 games.  Hamels only has 12 through his first 3 games.
    • Confidence: 70%
  12. MLB:  Toronto Blue Jays
    • The pitchers for these games seem to be going in opposite directions.  Sale started out the season great, but had a terrible outing in his last game, giving up 8 runs before getting pulled in the 5th inning.  Dickey started out rocky, but has been better recently and had a great outing in his last game.  The line is Toronto - 135, and I like them to even up the series at home here.
    • Confidence: 50%
  13. *NHL:  Washington Capitals
    • The Capitals are winning and winning consistently.  They have won their last 8, and are 12 - 1 - 1 in their last 14.  A major reason why is Alex Ovechkin.  He has scored 19 goals over his last 18 games.  The Senators did win these teams' only meeting this season, but they are still fighting injuries, and with Washington's current form, I just can't see picking against them.
    • Confidence: 70%
  14. MLB:  Yes Cardinals score a run in the 5th or 6th innings
    • You should definitely see how the first 4 innings go, but keep in mind that most scoring happens in the middle innings of baseball games.  Over 2 innings, I think it's pretty likely that the Cardinals score.
    • Confidence: 70%
  15. NHL:  Dallas Stars
    • If the Stars want to make the playoffs, they can't lose many if any more games.  They will have Kari Lehtonen back in net for this game, and have won their last 2 at home.  Vancouver has an impressive 5 - 0 - 1 record in their last 6 against Dallas, but being so desperate, Dallas should win at home.
    • Confidence: 60%
  16. MLB:  4 or 5 plate appearances
    • Again you should see how the innings before this play out, but 4 or 5 seems like a good deal.  Teams usually send in their closers to pitch in the 7th or 8th innings, so I don't think it will be more than 5 appearances.  If the any other number is to win, I think it will be 3.
    • Confidence: 70%
  17. *NHL:  San Jose Sharks
    • The Sharks have done extremely well at home.  They are also 10 - 1 - 1 in Minnesota's last 12 visits.  The season series is tied 1 - 1, with each team winning at home.
    • Confidence: 70%

Streak for the Cash picks for Wednesday, April 17

Our Beat the Streak picks are now posted.  They are available by clicking on the Baseball Games tab above.  We've gotten at least 2 right every day!

Unfortunately I will not have time to finish write-ups for today.  I'm sorry for any inconvenience, but this is what happens when the end of the school semester soon approaches.  I have researched each pick like usual though.

My suggestions is to sit the day out if you have a streak of 15 or more, but the newly added Knicks prop looks pretty good.

Our top "stash" pick:
  1. NBA:  New York Knicks

Our picks for all props:
  1. Other:  Traktor Chelyabinsk
    • Needless to say, this is a must-win for Traktor as they are facing elimination.  They won the last game of this series on the road.  Dynamo is definitely the better team, but this is win-or-go-home time for Traktor, and I think they even up the series on their home ice.
    • Confidence: 50%
  2. Soccer:  Manchester United Wins by 2+
  3. Soccer:  AS Roma win or draw
  4. Soccer:  Chelsea Win
  5. MLB:  Cincinnatti Reds
  6. NHL:  Pittsburgh Penguins
  7. MLB:  St. Louis Cardinals
  8. MLB:  Cleveland Indians
  9. MLB:  Tampa Bay Rays
  10. MLB:  Toronto Blue Jays
  11. MLB:  Philadelphia Phillies
  12. Soccer:  Sporting Kansas City Win or Draw
  13. NBA:  New York Knicks
  14. NBA:  Charlotte Bobcats
  15. NBA:  Jazz 3-pointers made or tie
  16. NBA:  Al Jefferson 1st half field goals made
  17. MLB:  San Francisco Giants
  18. NBA:  Yes 1+ team scores 25+ points in the 3rd quarter
  19. NHL:  Calgary Flames
  20. MLB:  Detroit Tigers
  21. NBA:  Los Angeles Lakers
  22. Soccer:  Peru win or draw

Steak for the Cash picks for Tuesday, April 16

First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the victims and everyone affected by the tragic events today at the Boston marathon.  One of the many reasons I love sports so much is that it has such a unifying force.  Unfortunately, tragic and just plain stupid and reckless things sometimes happen at sporting events and ruin them.  My dad ran in the Boston marathon twice.  One of the times he ran we went as a family to watch and support him.  It was an incredible event and Boston is a great, great city.   It is unfortunate that a great sporting event like the Boston marathon was ruined today by such a senseless act, but much, much more tragic that 3 people died and over 100 people injured, many of them seriously. We wish everyone the best, and may God bless us all.

Okay, I promise I will do Beat the Streak picks in the morning for the games tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon.  Make sure you check the Baseball Games site before the afternoon games start.  I apologize for the lack of picks.  I've had a lot of homework and such for school.  I still want to help you all out as much as I can though.  I also promise I will update the Basketball Games site soon.

We had a mediocre day yesterday, but we won our stash pick again.  There aren't a ton of great picks for tomorrow, but we wish you luck and hope you have fun streaking!

The props marked with a * are also featured on the game Streak It Up.

Our top "stash" picks:
  1. NHL:  New York Rangers
  2. MLB:  Detroit Tigers

Our picks for every prop:
  1. Soccer:  Liberec Win
    • I think a lot of people are taking the win/draw because Teplice beat Liberec 3-0 at home back in November and the odds are similar for both teams.  Liberec has won the last two matchups between these two though, although those were home games for them.  Liberec is also far ahead of Teplice in the league table, but I must warn you, I know next to nothing about Czech Cup soccer.
    • Confidence: 40%
  2. Other:  Real Madrid
    • Real Madrid won the first two games of this series at home, the first by 26 points, and the second by 12 points.  They are one of the top teams in Europe, and should win this pretty easily.  Hopefully it's not  a trap game.
    • Confidence: 50%
  3. *Soccer:  Bayern Munich wins by 3+
    • Bayern Munich is one of the top teams in Europe, easily on par with Barcelona and Real Madrid.  They beat Wolfsburg 2 - 0 on the road back in February and 3 - 0 at home back in September.  They are dominant at home, and are heavily favored in this match.  I'm 100% confident they will win, just not nearly as confident it will be by 3+, but they definitely have the talent to do so.
    • Confidence: 60%
  4. *Soccer:  Arsenal Win
    • Arsenal have been great at home, and Everton has a horrible record at Arsenal.  Both teams are fighting for position within the top 5 of the league table.  Arsenal has had some great results lately, including their impressive win on the road at Bayern Munich in Champions League action.  Everton has been tough in the Premier League this season though, and they did draw 1-1 with Arsenal at home back in November.
    • Confidence: 50%
  5. Soccer:  Yes Arsenal is leading at least once during the first half
    • I don't think I have ever seen this type of prop before on SFTC.  It's cool to get some variety and creativity in the picks!  This should be an easy green, unless of course there is no score in the first half.  Still, Arsenal will want to come out and attack early and not give Everton a chance to get momentum.
    • Confidence: 70%
  6. Soccer:  Yes Everton scores 1+ goals in the second half
    • I'm leaning yes at the moment, but this pick is subject to change, so make sure you come back at halftime.  I especially like this if Everton is down at the half.
    • Confidence: 50%
  7. MLB:  Baltimore Orioles
    • The Orioles have played most of the season on the road so far.  One of their road trips included a series at Tampa Bay, in which they won 2 of the 3 games, including the first one.  The Orioles are back at home now, and should win at least this one.
    • Confidence: 70%
  8. MLB:  New York Yankees
  9. NHL:  Washington Capitals
    • This is a match-up between two of the top teams in the East.  Both are riding great momentum coming into this game.  The Caps are 7 - 0 in the month of April.  The Maple Leafs are in the middle of a 9 - 1 - 4 stretch.  The Caps have lost both games to the Maple Leafs this season, both by a score of 3 - 2, but I think the Caps extend their win streak since they are at home.
    • Confidence: 60%
  10. *NHL:  New York Rangers
    • The Rangers sure have had great success against the Flyers.  They have won 5 of the last 6 at Philadelphia.  Their goalie, Henrik Lundqvist, has won 11 of his last 12 starts against the Flyers, posting a 1.66 GAA in those starts.  He has also played spectacularly this season, especially lately, and has a very good chance of winning the Vezina trophy again.  They are also clinging on to the last playoff spot in the East, so they need to win this game.
    • Confidence: 80%
  11. *NHL:  St. Louis Blues
    • Man, I'm undecided on this one.  These teams both have similar records and have split their regular season meetings.  Assuming the Blues make the playoffs, these two could meet in the first round, so we may be seeing this prop on here in the near future.  I'm taking the Blues because they need to win to make the playoffs, they are at home, and because they need to end their losing streak.
    • Confidence: 50%
  12. MLB:  Texas Rangers
    • I'm not really confident about this pick either.  The line is Texas -115, but they are on the road. Both of these pitchers have pitched well, but have not received a lot of run support.  This will most likely be a low scoring game.  I just think the Rangers, although they haven't hit the ball super well lately, are better offensively than the Cubs.  I definitely wouldn't put a high streak on this game though.
    • Confidence: 50%
  13. MLB:  San Francisco Giants
    • The Giants have been unstoppable with Zito at the mound.  They have won each of his last 16 starts, an impressive streak to say the least, and one that has not been accomplished since 1936.  In each of his first two starts of this season he pitched 7 scoreless innings.  The Brewers counter with Wily Peralta (4.50 ERA), who has never faced the Giants.  The line is Giants -102, which is pretty much an even line, but I just can't pick against Zito in this one.
    • Confidence: 70%
  14. MLB:  Los Angeles Angels
    • Good grief, another tossup pick.  The Angels are favored at -110, but they lost last night 8 - 2. Poor pitching has been costing them games, and all the money they paid for star players hasn't really been paying off either.  I'm only taking the Angels here because their pitcher is a little better than the Twins' pitcher and because they lost the first game.  Pick at your own risk.
    • Confidence: 50%
  15. NHL:  Minnesota Wild
    • The Oilers have lost their last 5 and just fired their general manager.  The Wild on the other hand, are focused on winning games and securing a playoff spot.  With so much uncertainty around Edmonton, I have to take the Wild in this one.
    • Confidence: 70%
  16. *MLB:  Detroit Tigers
    • I think this may be the pick of the day.  The Tigers are red-hot right now.  Fister is 2 - 0 this season and pitching very well.  The Mariners just acquired Harang from Colorado on Thursday and this will be his first start of the season.  The line is Tigers -123.  I think the Tigers win easily.
    • Confidence: 90%
  17. *NHL:  San Jose Sharks
    • The Sharks have been dominant over the Kings at home, winning 5 straight and going 26 - 3 - 2 in their last 31 there.  The Kings have lost 3 straight on the road, but haven't lost 4 straight on the road since 2009.  Both are vying for playoff position and home-ice advantage.  I gambled against the Sharks last night but I won't do it again.  The Sharks continue their dominance at home.
    • Confidence: 70%

Streak for the Cash picks for Monday, April 15

We had a great day yesterday, one of the best we've had in a while.  We went 16 -7 overall, including 8 - 2 in baseball, and won our "stash" pick as well.  We hope you had a great day yesterday as well!

Please continue to refer your friends to the site, join our groups, and follow us on Twitter (@TheFantasySC).  If any of the links are not working correctly, please leave a comment and let us know.  We also value any other feedback you have about the site.

I've done most the write-ups and will finish the rest tomorrow if I can.  Thanks again for visiting, and we wish you all good luck with your picks today!

Our top "stash" pick:
  1. NBA:  Chicago Bulls
Our picks for every prop:
  1. Soccer:  Mordovia Saransk Win or Draw
    • Mordovia has won "this prop" 3 of the last 5 (all the most recent) head-to-head matches against Alania.  They are both in the bottom of their league table, so neither team is spectacular.  Also, Alania has 2 losses and 3 draws in their last 5 and Mordovia has 2 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses in their last 5.  Mordovia with the draw seems pretty good!
    • Confidence:  60%
  2. MLB:  Boston Red Sox
    • I really think the Red Sox sweep the Rays in this series.  It is a little worrisome that Dempster (3.60 ERA) has allowed 3 runs in 5 innings in both of his previous starts, but those losses came against the Orioles and the Yankees, two teams that are much more talented offensively than Tampa Bay.  The Rays will counter with Hellickson (6.35 ERA) who has won 4 of his last 5 starts at Fenway, but since the line is Boston -140 and they are at home, I have to go with the Red Sox in this one.
    • Confidence: 70%
  3. Soccer:  Mlada Boleslav Win
    • Mlada  have won all of their most recent home games except for one (to the league #1 Plzen).  They have also won "this prop" in 3 of the last 5 head-to-head matches.  They are pretty heavy favorites to win.  They are 7th in the league table while Ostrava is 13th.  Who really knows about Czech liga soccer though?
    • Confidence: 50%
  4. Soccer:  Lazio Win or Draw
    • I'm not super confident in this pick, but Lazio are at home and have won "this prop" 3 of the last 5 times these teams have played head-to-head.  Juventus is 1st in the league table while Lazio is 5th.  Juventus didn't look super good at home against Bayern Munich the other day, and I really think Lazio will at least draw, especially since they are at home.
    • Confidence: 50%
  5. Soccer:  Benefica wins by 2+
    • Benefica has beaten Ferreira by 2+ both times they have played each other this year, including the away leg of this Taca de Portugal.  They are at home for this match and are pretty heavy favorites, so I think they'll cover here.  I really have no idea about his competition though.
    • Confidence: 60%
  6. MLB:  Philadelphia Phillies
    • The Reds are desperate to break out of their losing slump, but unfortunately they will face Cliff Lee, who has been dominant against them recently.  He is 3 - 0 with a 1.67 ERA in his last 4 starts against them.  The Phillies have also won 8 of their last 9 at Cincinnati, outscoring them 34 - 12 in that stretch.  Meanwhile, Arroyo is 1 - 6 with a 8.50 ERA in his last 7 starts against the Phillies.
    • Confidence: 70%
  7. MLB:  Any Other Number
    • This really is a toss-up.  More often than not, most scoring happens in baseball games in the middle innings or the final innings than the first 2 or 3.  I think 0 runs is probably more likely than 3+, but who knows.  Pick at your own risk.
    • Confidence: 50%
  8. NBA:  Chicago Bulls
    • The Bulls have won 8 of 9, including their last 5 straight against Orlando.  They have never swept a season series against the Magic, but they are poised to make history tonight with the very probable return of Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson.  The Magic are the worst team in the league except for the Bobcats and have nothing to play for.
    • Confidence: 80%
  9. MLB:  Pittsburgh Pirates
    • The line for this game is only St. Louis -100, which really means a tossup pick.  The Pirates have done very well of late, sweeping their last home series against the Reds.  They'll continue their homestand against the Cardinals who they went 8 - 7 against last year.
    • Confidence: 50%
  10. NHL:  Toronto Maple Leafs
    • The Maple Leafs have won every game against the Devils this season.  The Devils have lost 9 straight and are obviously trying to avoid yet another defeat, but getting a win against the Maple Leafs, especially with James Reimer in net for the Maple Leafs, who has a 1.99 GAA over his last seven starts.  The Devils are 1 - 5 - 6 in their last 12 road games and have only scored 16 goals since Ilya Kovalchuk last played on March 23.  Kovalchuk's shoulder injury has really hurt them, and there is no indication as to when he will return.  The Maple Leafs get another win here and should be headed to the playoffs for the first time since '03 - '04.
    • Confidence: 80%
  11. MLB:  Toronto Bluejays
    • Mark Buerhle will be pitching against his former team tonight.  He should be very familiar with their hitters, as he was a pitcher for the White Sox for 12 seasons, having phenomenal success there.  The Blue Jays have been playing well, especially at home.  The line is also -145 Bluejays, which is a very favorable line.
    • Confidence: 70%
  12. NBA:  Detroit Pistons
    • Detroit is favored by 3 and are at home for this game.  Some say the 76ers will be more motivated to win for their coach who is out after the end of the season, but I think the coaching change drama will be a distraction for them.  Neither of these teams has anything to play for except pride.  Detroit will have more pride at home.
    • Confidence: 60%
  13. Other:  Any Other Order
    • This order is what 2 of the 4 analysts of the WNBA draft have.  I agree with them.  I think Skylar Diggins will take the 2nd spot instead of the 3rd.
    • Confidence: 60%
  14. NBA:  Dallas Mavericks
    • I'm going with the underdog Mavericks here based on their past history against Memphis and their recent game results.  Memphis is just 6 - 30 all time in Dallas and have lost the last two of those by an average of 15.5 points.  The Mavericks will not be playing in the postseason, so they are just playing to end up with a winning season and finish as strong as possible.  They are 4-1 in their last 5 and just had a huge win over Denver at home a few days ago.
    • Confidence: 60%
  15. NBA:  Utah Jazz
    • The line is Jazz -5.  The Jazz just beat the Timberwolves at home on Friday, and they have won 10 of the last 12 meetings against them.  Al Jefferson and company will not let the Jazz lose, as they must win all of their remaining games in order to make the playoffs.  The only reason I'm not more confident in this pick is that the Timberwolves have been great at home.
    • Confidence: 70%
  16. MLB:  Los Angeles Angels
  17. Other:  Any Other Position
    • On ESPN's mock WNBA draft board, 3 of the 4 experts have her going as the 11th pick to Connecticut.  I think she may even go lower than that and possibly 2nd round.  Unless you really follow the WNBA though, I would stay away.
    • Confidence: 50%
  18. NHL:  Calgary Flames
  19. NHL:  Columbus Blue Jackets
  20. NHL:  Phoenix Coyotes
  21. NBA:  San Antonio Spurs

SFTC picks for Sunday, April 14

Well it has been a crazy weekend with lots of upsets.  We've picked some of the upsets and lost some as well.  I've also been really busy with school work and such, so these last couple of posts have come late at night when my thinking is not the clearest.  I noticed there were a few errors on our last post, and I have since fixed them.  Once again it is late, so I did not have time to do full write-ups for all of our picks, but I did research them all.

We thank everyone for the support and hope you will continue to share our site with your friends!  We also encourage you to vote on the new poll question.

We also remind you that our Beat the Streak picks can be found on our Baseball Games site (click on the tab above).  Hopefully tomorrow we'll get the basketball site updated with all of the results from the tournament-based games.

Good luck with your picks today!

Our top "stash" pick:
  1. MLB:  Boston Red Sox

Our picks for all props:
  1. Soccer:  Newcastle United Win
    • Sunderland have only won at Newcastle in 3 of their last 16 trips there.  They are also plagued by injuries and have not been in great form recently as a result.  Their main motivation for winning this match is to avoid relegation.  With Sunderland having so many injuries, I can't see picking against Newcastle, who are favorites at 1.95, to win at home.
    • Confidence: 70%
  2. Soccer:  Manchester City Advances
    • City are favored at 2.63 to win.  Chelsea are wearing thin.  One evidence of this fact is their inability to maintain the lead and secure the win at Rubin Kazan a few days ago.  City are rested and fresh, and are looking in great form right now.
    • Confidence: 60%
  3. NHL:  Chicago Blackhawks
    • The Blackhawks have already clinched their division title and now are trying to stay atop of Anaheim for the West's #1 overall seed come playoffs time.  The Blue's goalie is seeking his fourth consecutive shutout and their coach is seeking his 600th win.  It would be nice to see history be made on both accounts, but I don't think it comes against the Blackhawks today.
    • Confidence: 60%
  4. Soccer:  Puebla Win
    •  To be honest, I know nothing about the Mexican Premier League.  Yesterday, what looked a pretty solid draw pick ended up losing by a pretty big margin.  Puebla has the better record, and over the last several head to head matches, the home team has won nearly every time.  I wouldn't put much of a streak on this at all though.
    • Confidence:  40%
  5. MLB:  Chicago White Sox
    • The White Sox are the only team in MLB that have not yet won on the road.  However, they have not started a season 0 - 6 on the road since 1968.  Myers (12.19 ERA) got shelled by the Yankees in his last start for the Indians, giving up 7 runs and 11 hits, mainly due to his leaving the ball out over the plate and not locating his pitches well.  If he does it again this game, Chicago will take advantage, as they have scored 22 of their 39 runs this season off of homers.  Peavy (5.56 ERA) on the other hand has been very solid in his starts. The White Sox are the favorites at -115.
    • Confidence: 60%
  6. MLB:  Philadelphia Phillies
  7. MLB:  Cincinnati Reds
  8. MLB:  Boston Red Sox
  9. Golf:  8 Strokes
    • Clark shot a 4 on this hole in all 3 previous rounds.  Woods shot a 4 in rounds 1 and 2 and a 3 in round 3.  I'd say 8 strokes has the best chance of winning based on the previous results.
    • Confidence: 70%
  10. MLB:  San Francisco Giants
  11. Golf:  Any Other Country
    • Most of the top leaders are not Americans.  The overall leader is, but there are a bunch right with him, namely Cabrera, Scott, Leishman, Day, and Clark are not.  Most of these have consistently at the top of the leaderboard, so it seems unlikely that an American will come from behind, and I don't think Snedeker can stay at the top.
    • Confidence: 60%
  12. Golf:  Yes at least one player bogeys the par 3 4th
    • Leishman bogeyed this hole in each of the last 2 rounds.  Scott bogeyed in round 2.  Total, that's 3 bogeys and 3 pars between these two on this hole.  Since the bogeys have come in the later rounds of the tournament, I'm picking yes here.

Streak for the Cash picks for April 13

It is really late again and I didn't have time to finish all write-ups tonight.  I've been working and doing homework most of the day.  I will finish the remaining write-ups in the morning.  At least the first 10 or so picks are up here.

We've also added a new poll question to the site, so please take the time to vote.  We'd like to know how long you've been playing Fantasy Sports Games.  Thanks!

Our top "stash" pick:

  1. MLB:  New York Mets

Our picks for all props:
  1. Soccer:  Southhampton Win
    • Southhampton has some impressive wins lately at home.  They beat Manchester City 3 - 1, Liverpool 3 - 1, and Chelsea 2 - 1, all since early February.  The last time these two played at West Ham, West Ham won 4 - 1.  That match was clear back in October though.  Southampton may be missing a couple key players, and these teams share very similar table position, goals for, goals against, etc., so the match may end in a draw, but it's hard to ignore Southhampton's home form lately.  I'm sure it will be close though.
    • Confidence: 50%
  2. Golf:  Par (3)
    • Bubba shot a par in round 1 and a birdie in round 2 on this hole.  What will he shoot in round 3?  I think most likely par, but who knows.
    • Confidence:  50%
  3. MLB:  Boston Red Sox
    • The line for this game is Boston -117, which are not super high odds.  The Rays have had success in Fenway Park against Lester, winning the last 4 matchups against him.  However, the Red Sox bullpen has had a chance to rest and regroup from the 2 losses they cost their team againt the Orioles, and Lester has clearly been the better pitcher so far this season.  He is 2 - 0 with a 1.50 ERA and 13 Ks over 12 innings.  Price (8.18 ERA) on the other hand, got rocked in his only start of this season, giving up 8 earned runs and 10 hits in just 5 innings
    • Confidence: 60%
  4. MLB:  San Francisco Giants
    • This should be another close game between these two, but probably a lot lower scoring, as Bumgarner and Samardzija take the mound.  These two pitchers have awesome numbers.  Both are among the best in WHIP and have gone the most number of innings in their starts.  Bumgarner has a 1.32 ERA as opposed to Samardzija's 2.63 though, so I'm going with the Giants in a close one.  Hopefully the Giants' bullpen doesn't cost them another game.
    • Confidence: 50%
  5. Golf:  Par (5)
    • This 14 year old young man from China has done very well for his first Masters tournament.  He parred this hole in both round 1 and round 2.  I don't know why he shouldn't get par in round 3 also.
    • Confidence:  60%
  6. Golf:  4 or more birdies
    • This is a tough pick because Tiger recorded exactly 3 birdies in rounds 1 and 2.  He needs to up the ante in this round though if he hopes to reach the leader, and getting birdies is the way to do that (or not shoot bogeys, which he has had a few over the 2 rounds).
    • Confidence:  55%
  7. NHL:  Buffalo Sabres
    • Both of these teams are really fighting for playoff position.  Being that this game is in Buffalo and that the Sabres are a little closer to achieving a post-season spot, I'll take my chances with the Sabres.
    • Confidence: 50%
  8. Golf:  Par (3)
    • Gosh these golf props are tossups.  Fowler shot a par in round 1 and a birdie in round 2.  Your guess is as good as mine for round 3.  All I know is Mickelson ruined a ton of streaks with his bogey in a similar prop yesterday.
    • Confidence: 50%
  9. LAX:  Maryland wins by 3+ goals
    • Johns Hopkins have lost 3 of their last 4 games.  They started the season well, but have tanked over the last few weeks and are now ranked #15.  Maryland is the #1 team, and since they're at home for this game, I like Maryland even more to cover the spread here.
    • Confidence: 70%
  10. MLB:  Detroit Tigers
    • The Tigers jumped out to a 3 - 0 lead last night thanks to Prince Fielder, but they couldn't hold it, and lost 4 - 3 in 12 innings.  Their bullpen continues to struggle to win games.  Luckily for Detroit, they have Justin Verlander on the mound today.  He has had great success against Oakland, posting a 0.49 ERA in his last 5 starts against them.  Anderson has also had success against Detroit, but Verlander is definitely the better pitcher, and the Tigers shouldn't lose 2 straight.
    • Confidence: 70%
  11. MLB:  Baltimore Orioles
    • If you haven't seen highlights of the Yankees' triple play against the Orioles last night, you should go check it out.  Adam Jones missing the catch on the fly ball should make "not top plays" on sports center.  I think the Orioles rebound today and get the win.  Hammel (1 -1, 4.97ERA) has fared much better than Phil Hughes (0 - 1, 6.75 ERA).
    • Confidence: 60%
  12. MLB:  New York Mets
    • The Mets just embarrassed the Twins yesterday, winning 16 - 5, in thanks in large part to John Buck, who had a grand slam, and is batting .351 with 6 homers this season.  Matt Harvey has also been pitching great for the Mets, winning his first two starts and has a 0.64 ERA.  I would be totally shocked if the Mets lose this game.  The Mets are favored -122.
    • Confidence: 80%
  13. Golf:  7 strokes or fewer
    • Hole 12 is a par 3 and hole 13 a par 5.  For these two holes combined, Tiger shot a 7 in round 1 and an 8 in round 2.  I really think he's likely to birdie hole 13 again, as it is one of the easiest par 5's to birdie, so barring anything crazy happening (such as him hitting the flag pole and the ball bouncing into the water), 7 or under should be good to go.
    • Confidence: 60%
  14. Golf:  6 strokes
    • Schwartzel shot a 3 on both rounds on this hole.  McIlroy shot a 3 in round 1 and a 2 in round 2.  I think 6 is the most likely option, but these golf props have been so unpredictable.
    • Confidence: 50%
  15. Soccer: Club Tijuana win or draw
    • In their last 3 head-to-head matchups, they have drawn twice, those two draws being their matchups from last season.  These teams are about middle of the table and are separated by 2 teams.  The odds are pretty even as well, so it seems that the draw is the most likely option here.
    • Confidence: 60%
  16. Golf:  10 or more
    • Wow, another tossup pick.  Day shot a birdie in round 1 and a par in round 2 on this hole.  Couples shot a par in both rounds.  Statistically, the par far outweighs any other score for this hole, so if they each par that would 10 strokes.  It might go birdie-par though and then 9 or less would win.  Pick at your own risk.
    • Confidence: 50%
  17. NHL:  New York Islanders
    • The Rangers have won 2 and the Islanders 1 of the regular season meetings between these two.    These teams match up really well, and in all honesty, either team could win.  I think the Islanders have the slight edge since they are at home.
    • Confidence: 50%
  18. NHL:  Toronto Maple Leafs
    • The Canadiens have already clinched a playoff spot.  The Leafs are still fighting for one, and are at home, which should give them the edge in this game.  The Leafs are 10-2-3 in their last 15, while the Canadiens are 13-4-2 in their last 19 road games.
    • Confidence: 50%
  19. Other:  Quinipiac
    • I don't know much about college hockey, but I'll take the #1 team to win the championship.
    • Confidence: 60%
  20. MLB:  Kansas City Royals
    • The Royals lost last night 8-4, but they have a better matchup today, and should win.  They face R.A. Dickey, who is 0-2 with a 8.44 ERA.  The Blue Jays are also without Jose Bautista to an ankle injury.  The Royals will send James Shields to the mound, who they acquired from Tampa Bay in the offseason.  He is 1-1 with a 3.75ERA this season.
    • Confidence: 70%
  21. MLB:  Philadelphia Phillies
    • The Marlins are the worst team in baseball.  I'm sure they're desperate for a win, but unfortunately it won't come tonight against the Phillies.  Especially not with Cole Hamels at the mound.
    • Confidence: 70%
  22. Soccer:  FC Dallas Win
    • Dallas has won every game they have played at home.  They lead their division table with 13 points and a 4-1-1 record.  Los Angeles has only played at home so far this season in MLS action., mostly draws.  They are third in the division table.  This could definitely end in a draw, but I like Dallas to squeak out a win.
    • Confidence: 60%
  23. NBA:  Memphis Grizzlies
    • The line for this game is Memphis -3.  Both of these teams are jockeying for home court advantage come playoffs time.  The Grizzlies are 31 - 8 at home, and haven't lost there since February 5.  The Clippers are 22 - 17 on the road.  Billups is out for the Clippers, and the Grizzlies have no major injuries.
    • Confidence: 70%
  24. MLB:  Arizona Diamnondbacks
    • The Diamondbacks have won 3 straight and 11 of 13 overall against the Dodgers, and Kennedy is a better pitcher than Ryu.  Diamondbacks win.
    • Confidence: 70%
  25. MLB:  Colorado Rockies
    • Rockies won last night, and should have success against the Padres again tonight.  Volquez for the Padres is 0-2 with a woeful 10.00ERA.  Meanwhile, J. Chacin of the Rockies is 1 - 0 with a 1.35 ERA
    • Confidence: 70%
  26. NHL: Anaheim Ducks
    • Ducks are playing better, have a better record, and just beat the Kings on Sunday.  This really could go either way though.  I wouldn't risk a high streak on this.
    • Confidence: 60%

Streak For The Cash Picks for April 12

All of the picks for today are now posted with full write-ups.  We're still working on BTS picks for today and some work on our Basketball site, so look for announcements to come soon when they are ready!

Our top "stash" pick:
  1. NBA:  Chicago Bulls
Our picks for all props:
  1. Golf:  Nick Watney or tie
    • This prop is for holes 1 - 9, these players' first holes of the day.  Yesterday, Watney shot a +3 and Stricker a +4 on these holes.  While they most likely won't have such a horrible start this next round, I don't think Stricker will overtake Watney.  Subsequent rounds of golf can be very different though, and the tie option has not been winning these 9 hole props much lately, so keep that in mind.
    • Confidence:  60%
  2. Soccer:  CSKA Moscow Win
    • In the Russian Premier League table CSKA Moscow currently holds an 8 point lead at the top.  Their opponent in today's match, Dynamo Moscow is in 5th place in the table, 17 points behind the leader.  These two teams play in the same city, so there will be a familiarity between the two sides.  Earlier this season, Dynamo beat CSKA, giving them one of their only 4 losses this season.  But that was back in September and CSKA has won 5 straight going into this match.  I expect them to get the revenge on their cross-town rival.
    • Confidence:  60%
  3. Golf:  Adam Scott or tie
    • Both Scott and Garcia scored par on all of these holes in round 1.  These three holes have a high average of par, and that is the most likely option.  Garcia shot 3 better than Scott for the entire round, but over just holes, the tie option seems like the best choice.
    • Confidence:  60%
  4. Golf:  Par (3)
    • Mickelson recorded a birdie (2) on this hole in round 1, thanks to an awesome tee shot.  There were actually a good number of birdies on this hole overall.  I don't expect Mickelson to birdie again, as the hole and tee placements will most likely be different for this round.
    • Confidence:  70%
  5. MLB:  Chicago Cubs
    • I am not super confident in this pick, but the main reason I'm making it is that Matt Cain has not been good for the Giants so far this year.  In his first start, he went 6 innings, with 8Ks, 4 hits and a walk, but the Giants lost 4 - 0.  In his second start, he got shelled against the Cardinals, giving up 9 earned runs and 7 hits, with only 2 Ks.  Now Cain won't be that bad all season, but the Cubs almost won yesterday, and as this is a home game for them, I think the Cubs might win this one.
    • Confidence: 50%
  6. Golf:  6 Strokes
    • These two each scored par (3) on this hole in round 1.  You might want to see how they are doing on previous holes of the round to get a sense of how they're playing, but par on this hole seems pretty likely for these guys.
    • Confidence: 70%
  7. Golf:  Any Other Score
    • Bubba shot par (3) and Poulter had a birdie on this hole in round 1.  A ton of people (including us) just lost taking par for Mickelson on this hole (he double bogeyed).  This hole seems to be playing tougher than yesterday.  You might want to see how they are doing on previous holes of the round to get a sense of how they're playing, but I think the result for these guys will be over par.
    • Confidence: 70%
  8. Golf:  Birdie (4)
    • Tiger shot a birdie on this hole in the last round, and I don't see any indication that he shouldn't get the same result.  Par would be much more likely than eagle for any other result to win.
    • Confidence: 70%
  9. Golf:  No, No Birdie from Group on 18th
    • No one from this group birdied this hole in round 1.  Fowler got par, while Day and Harrington both bogeyed the hole.  I think the no option is fairly safe.
    • Confidence: 70%
  10. NHL:  St. Louis Blues
    • The Blues have been on fire lately, winning their last 6 straight.  They have won 10 of the last 12 against the Blue Jackets.  They have had so much success thanks to their stellar goalie, Brian Elliot, and it's a little concerning that they will be starting their rookie goalie, Jake Allen, but they should still win this game.
    • Confidence: 60%
  11. MLB:  Cleveland Indians
    • There are some interesting stats for this game.  The Indians haven't lost their first 3 games at home since 1996, and the White Sox haven't lost their first four on the road since 1978.  Still, with the line at -150 for the Indians at home, and them having Justin Masterson at the mound, the odds are definitely in Cleveland's favor.  Masterson (0.69 ERA) has been extremely dominant in his first two starts, pitching a total of 13 innings, while recording 13 Ks and only giving up 1 earned run and 5 hits.  Quintana (11.25 ERA) on the other hand, only has one start, going just 4 innings while giving up 5 earned runs and 8 hits.
    • Confidence: 70%
  12. MLB:  New York Yankees
    • Both of the pitchers for this game have done well so far this season, but Sabatthia has been the better of the two.  The line for this game opened at -145 but has since moved to -155, and with the Yankees at home with C.C. on the mound, all signs point to a Yankees victory.
    • Confidence: 70%
  13. MLB:  Cincinnati Reds
    • The current line for this game is Pittsburgh -110, which slightly favors Pittsburgh but not by much.  I have to say the Reds win this one though.  The Pirates are hoping to have some luck and win some games at home, but their offense has been truly awful.  Only Miami has fewer runs scored than Pittsburgh in the major leagues.  Both of these pitchers are solid, but especially if Cincinnati gets a big lead early, the game is essentially over because the Pirates just don't have enough offense.
    • Confidence: 70%
  14. MLB:  Washington Nationals
    • Detwiler has clearly been the better pitcher so far this season, the Nationals are -135 and are at home.  That's good enough for me.
    • Confidence: 60%
  15. NHL:  Ottawa Senators
    • The Senators have won both games againt the Devils this season in shootouts, and their goalie Craig Anderson is 4 - 1 - 0 with a 1.78 GAA vs the Devils in his last five starts against them.  The Devils are still without Ilya Kovalchuck, their leading forward due to injury, and are also missing a couple of other defensive players.  They have lost 8 straight, and although they really need to win this game to have any shot at the playoffs, I highly doubt they get the win tonight.
    • Confidence: 70%
  16. NBA:  Chicago Bulls
    • The Bulls just knocked off the Knicks at home in overtime and now travel to Toronto, a team they lost to at home a few days ago.  The Bulls are fighting for home-court advantage in the playoffs, and the Raptors have no shot at making the playoffs.  The line is dead even on this game, but I'm taking the Bulls to get revenge for the loss to the Raptors on their own home floor.
    • Confidence 70%
  17. MLB:  Miami Marlins
    • You may think I'm crazy for this pick, but if the Marlins are going to win any game in this series, I think this will be the one.  They are definitely the worst team in baseball, but they won't go winless forever, and I just they they finally get a win at home.  The line is only Phillies -109, which indicates they aren't big favorites.
    • Confidence: 40%
  18. NBA:  Houston Rockets
    • This game, on paper, is a toss-up if I have ever seen one.  The Grizzlies are a better team with a better overall record.  The Rockets play well at home and are fighting for positioning in the west to avoid having to play either OKC or SAS in the first round.  The Grizzlies too are fighting to ensure they get home court in the first round.  Both teams have won 7 of their last 10 games.  Neither team has a major injury going into the game.  I really don't have any one stat to point out as to why one team will beat the other.  So far in their previous 3 games, they are on serve, each team having won on their home floor, as for this reason, I have to pick the Rockets at home.
    • Confidence 50%
  19. MLB:  Kansas City Royals
    • The Royals are on a roll and are at home for this game.  Toronto's pitchers have been a major flop so far, with the exception of J.A. Happ, who is starting for this game.  I think the Royals take this one, but my lose one or two of the series.  The line is only Royals -108, so it wouldn't be a huge surprise to me if the Blue Jays ended up winning.
    • Confidence: 50%
  20. MLB:  St. Louis Cardinals
    • Kyle Lohse returns to St. Louis to face his former team tonight.  He has been the one bright spot in the Brewers' pitching rotation.  His former teammates, especially Carlos Beltran are very familiar with him and hit well off him though.  This fact and that the line is Cardinals -136 make the Cardinals a solid pick.  If the Brewers have one advantage, it is that they are rested, since their last two games were canceled due to inclement weather.
    • Confidence: 70%
  21. NBA: Denver Nuggets
    • Unlike the Rockets/Grizzlies game above, this game on the other hand seems pretty clear cut.  Denver has been one of the hottest teams since the All Star break and Dallas has been a below .500 team all season.  The Mavs don't have any hope of making the playoffs. The Nuggets won both of their meetings earlier this season and should get the sweep tonight.
    • Confidence 60%
  22. NBA:  Yes both the Jazz and Lakers win
    • The Jazz win against the Timberwolves should be locked down.  The Lakers should also beat Golden State who does have a better record than them but has historically struggled against LA.  The Warriors are also playing the second-leg of a back-to-back.  Plus, the major key to this game is Kobe.  That man will score 50 points himself if he has to, he will do whatever is necessary, even choke one of the Warriors stars if they get hot, just as long as the Lakers make the playoffs.  Nothing else matters to Kobe.  If the Jazz lose and the Lakers win, you can pretty much give the 8th spot to LA, but that's why I think both teams win tonight.
    • Confidence 60%
  23. NHL:  Phoenix Coyotes
    • The Coyotes have not had great success on the road, especially at Calgary, but they have won 4 straight and need every win they can get to secure a playoff spot.  They come into this game extremely motivated and hopefully get the win tonight.
    • Confidence: 50%
  24. MLB:  Detroit Tigers
    • The A's are off to their best start in years.  They are 8 - 2 and have recorded 97 hits over their last 8 games.  The Tigers are hitting the ball very well too though, recording 42 hits over their last 3 games.  The line is Detroit -102, so it's pretty much dead even.  The main reason I like Detroit in this one is that Barotolo Colon has not had a win against the Tigers in almost 10 years!  Will history be made tonight?
    • Confidence: 60%
  25. MLB:  Texas Rangers
    • Who can forget how close Yu Darvish came to a perfect game in his first start of the season?  He has pitched very well, and the Rangers are hitting the ball very well also.  Darvish has struggled at Safeco Field, but with the Rangers hitting so well and the Mariners missing a couple of key players, I think Darvish and the Rangers get a coveted win on the road.  The line is the Rangers -133.
    • Confidence: 60%
  26. MLB:  Colorado Rockies
    • The Rockies just got swept by the Giants and should get back to wining ways against the Padres, a team they swept at home earlier this month.  With some Padres players likely facing suspension for this game after yesterday's ridiculous brawl, the Rockies should have an even easier time winning.  The line is Padres -108, but I'm not buying it.
    • Confidence: 60%
