SFTC picks for Friday, March 8

I have updated my picks to reflect the current line-up of picks.  There were a few that were added after last night.

I just realized that for the past few days I've been forgetting to mark the picks that are featured on Streak It Up (SIU).  I will make sure and do that from now on.  The props marked with a * are those also featured on SIU.

I don't really think any of the props today are worth risking a super-high streak on, but:
My top 2 "stash" picks are:

  1. NCAAM:  Evansville Aces
  2. NBA:  Al Horford

My picks for every prop:

  1. Soccer:  Amkar Perm Win/Draw/Lose by 1
    • Amkar has won this prop 5 of the last 6 times these teams have played each other.  The two most recent matchups were 2 - 2 draws.  Krasnodar is 10th and Amkar 12th in their league table.  Amkar is 0 - 4 - 1 in their last 5 and Krasnodar is 3 - 2 - 0 in their last 5.  Krasnodar is at home, but I just don't see them winning by 2+.
    • Confidence: 60%
  2. Golf:  Tiger Woods has at least a share of the lead after round 2
    • I'll probably end up regretting this, but I just have an inkling that Tiger will at least share the lead.  I know there are a ton of other golfers that are currently tied or close to him, and everyone is saying no on this prop, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say yes.
    • Confidence:  40%
  3. *Soccer:  Sonderjyske Win/Draw
    • Sonderjyske won 6 - 1 the last time these two played, and has won this prop 4 of the last five times they have gone head-to-head.  They are 10th in their league table while Randers are 3rd.  I don't know much about Danish soccer (but who does?), but based on history, Sonderjyske should at least draw.
    • Confidence:  40%
  4. *Soccer:  AC Milan Win
    • The last 5 times these teams have played each other, Milan won this prop 4 times.  Milan is in 3rd place in their league table, and Geneoa is in 17th place.  The game is at Genoa, and the draw option has been money on SFTC, but I just can't see going against Milan here.
    • Confidence:  60%
  5. *Soccer:  Real Betis Win
    • Real Betis is 12 - 4 - 10 in league play this season.  Osasuna is 7 - 7 - 12.  The odds clearly favor Real Betis, but the result last time these two played was a 0 - 0 draw at Osasuna.  I think Betis gets the win here by 1 with a score of 1 - 0 or 2 - 1.
    • Confidence: 60%
  6. *NCAAM:  Evansville Aces
    • Evansville is in great form right now.  They just beat Indiana St by almost 20 at home 5 days ago.  This game is in St. Louis, so neither team has home court advantage, but Evansville is simply the better team.  They have finished the season strong.
    • Confidence:  80%
  7. NCAAM:  Tennessee St. Win/Single digit loss
    • This game is interesting.  Belmont is currently favored by 12.  Belmont won at home by 12, but Tennessee St. won at home by 11.  This tournament is played in Nashville TN, and so neither team has home-court advantage.  Conference tournament games are usually close, so I like Tennessee St. here.
    • Confidence:  70%
  8. NCAAM:  Akron wins by double digits
    • Akron is currently favored by 10.  They are the cream of the crop in the Mid-American conference, have a 24 -5 overall record, a 14 - 1 conference record, and are 15 - 0 at home.  Kent State is just 8 - 7 in conference and 18 - 12 overall.  They last played Akron at home and lost by 4, but have lost 5 of their road games by double digits.
    • Confidence:  60%
  9. NHL:  Florida Panthers
    • The Panthers have shown that they can win lately, and are at home.  I just don't trust the Jets, although they just beat the Lightning on the road.  This will be back-to-back games for them though, so maybe they'll be tired.
    • Confidence: 50%
  10. NBA:  Boston Celtics
    • The Celtics have an 8 game winning streak at home, and are really catching up to teams in the Eastern Conference.  They are just coming off a huge win over the Pacers, and the Hawks have struggled on the road.  Boston is currently favored by 4 points.
    • Confidence:  70%
  11. NBA:  Al Horford
    • Horford and Pierce average similar points per game, but Horford averages a significantly larger number of rebounds per game.  Pierce doesn't get that many rebounds, so the rebounds category will most likely be huge here.  The stats sure favor Horford.
    • Confidence:  70%
  12. Other:  USA wins by 2+ runs
    • Mexico just lost to Italy by 1 run.  If Mexico loses, they are out of the competition, so they will give it all they have, but I think the USA team is just too talented.
    • Confidence:  80%
  13. NCAAM:  Loyola Marymount Free throws made
    • Santa Clara is currently favored by 11.  Loyola averages just under 14 free throws per game.  Since it's a conference tournament game, the game should be somewhat close.
    • Confidence:  70%
  14. NBA:  Boston Celtics more 3rd quarter points
    • I'm going to say the Celtics right now.  They usually come out of halftime and score well in the 3rd.  You may want to see how the first half goes, and I may change my pick accordingly as well.
    • Confidence:  50%
  15. NCAAM:  Illinois State Redbirds
    • Northern Iowa has beaten Illinois State twice this season.  However, Illinois State was great come tournament time last year, and for some reason I'm just feeling them in this game.  UNI is favored by 1, but this is a neutral site, conference tournament game, so anything can happen.
    • Confidence:  50%
  16. *NBA:  Golden State Warriors
    • The Warriors are currently favored by 3 in this game.  They are 20 - 7 at home, and the Rockets are just 13 and 20 on the road.  Mark Jackson is doing very well with this team, and hopefully Stephen Curry has another fantastic game.
    • Confidence:  60%
