We will also be covering ESPN's new NBA playoffs game 1-N-Done on our Basketball games site. The playoffs start tomorrow, so make sure and create an entry soon. We will have a link in the Join Our Groups box for you to join our group. We'll post an announcement on here and on Twitter later today when it's all done. This looks like a really fun and interesting game, and these playoff series should be intense!
We are obviously posting today's picks late, and missed posting about the first 5 picks. In case you're wondering, our picks were Graeme McDowell, Teplice W/D, Jim Furyk or Tie, Any Other Result, and Lyon W/D. As a word of caution, I probably wouldn't take our top "stash" picks with anything higher than a W10.
Our top "stash" pick:
- NHL: New York Rangers
- MLB: Detroit Tigers
Our picks for all remaining props today:
- NHL: New York Rangers
- It took a small miracle for Buffalo to win Wednesday against the Bruins, scoring with 26 second left and winning the shootout. One more loss for them and they're all but eliminated from playoff contention. The Rangers had a sub-par game against Philadelphia on Tuesday, but bounced back and beat Florida 6 - 1 on Thursday. The Rangers' goalie, Henrik Lundqvist, has allowed 2 or fewer goals in 13 of his last 15 starts, with a 1.68 GAA in that span.
- Confidence: 70%
- MLB: Toronto Blue Jays
- This game features two good pitchers, Pettite and Morrow. Morrow has won back-to-back games against the Yankees, hasn't given up a run in 16 innings against them, and is 3 - 1 with a 1.30 ERA in his last four starts against them. Pettitte has allowed 3 or fewer runs in 4 straight starts against the Blue Jays. This should be a great game. With Jose Bautista likely back for the Blue Jays, and Jeter, Granderson, and Texeira still out for the Yankees, I'm going with the Blue Jays at home.
- Confidence: 60%
- MLB: Oakland Athletics
- The Oaklans A's are off to their best start in a long time. They have the best record in the American League, and are undefeated on the road this season. They have had great success in the Rays' home park, winning 6 of 9, and three straight series. The Rays have come to life a little bit lately, but their offense still struggles mightily, and we all know what the As' offense can do.
- Confidence: 70%
- MLB: Cleveland Indians
- This is a matchup between two of the worst teams in baseball. Houston has lost 11 games this season, including their last 5. Cleveland has lost their last 9 games, including their last 4. Neither pitcher has been great this season either. Even though Houston is at home, the line is Cleveland -110, and I think Cleveland is the better of these two bad teams.
- Confidence: 60%
- MLB: Milwaukee Brewers
- The Brewers seemed dead in the water a few days ago. Sweeping the world-series champion Giants has sure helped them gain some confidence. They have won 15 of 17 against the Cubs at home, and five straight overall. Estrada has won 3 straight against the Cubs, and has gone 3 - 0 with a 1.50 ERA in his last four starts against them. Samardzija had a great opening day start, but has lost his last 2 starts. He is 0 - 2 with a 3.18 ERA in 3 starts against the Brewers. The Brewers at home seems pretty good. If they can sweep the Giants, they should be able to beat the Cubs.
- Confidence: 70%
- Soccer: Club Leon Win
- I know nothing about the Mexican Premier League, but the latest line I've seen is Leon -208. That is pretty good odds. Both of these teams are at the bottom of the table. That's about all I know.
- Confidence: 50%
- Soccer: 31st minute or later or no goal in the 1st half
- I definitely would not pick this unless you know these teams well or you're going for monthly wins. I'm going with 31st minute or later or no goal because these teams are at the bottom of the table which means they don't score a lot of goals. I think it's pretty likely the score is 0-0 at the half which would also win this prop.
- Confidence: 50%
- MLB: Colorado Rockies
- The Rockies are 6 - 0 at home for the first time in franchise history, and have won their last 6 overall this season. The Diamonbacks send Ian Kennedy to the mound, who has had some good success against the Rockies of late, going 3 - 1 with a 1.80 ERA over his last 5 starts against them. The Rockies counter with Jhoulys Chacin, who is 3 - 2 with a 2.81 ERA over 9 career starts against the Diamondbacks. The DBacks have won 10 of 16 in Colorado, but it's hard to ignore the Rockies recent success, especially at home. I think the cold weather also plays into the Rockies' hands as they are more accustomed to playing in those conditions. Tho be honest though, I'm just a little nervous about this pick.
- Confidence: 50%
- NHL: Edmonton Oilers
- The Oilers have lost 6 straight, but they still have a shot at making the playoffs, albeit a long shot. The Avalanche are already eliminated from playoff contention (for the 3rd straight season), so they don't really have anything to play for. Needless to say, the Oilers are extremely motivated to get a win here. It's probably one of the easiest wins for them remaining on their schedule, and to make the playoffs, they pretty much have to win this game.
- Confidence: 70%
- Soccer: 63rd minute or later or no goal
- You'll want to see how the first half goes. If the score is 0 - 0 at the half, an early 2nd half goal may be likely. In all reality, this is a toss up pick, but since these teams don't score many goals, this 63rd minute or later or no goal seems like the best option.
- Confidence: 50%
- MLB: Detroit Tigers
- The Angels are probably wishing they wouldn't have let Torii Hunter go. He is batting .418, with hits in each of his last 10 games for the Tigers. After telling Hunter he was let go because of a lack of money, the Angels will shell out $125 million over 5 years for his replacement, Josh Hamilton. Hamilton has not lived up to expectations, much like Pujols at the start of last season. At any rate, the Tigers should win this game not just because they have great hitters, but they have one of the best pitchers starting tonight. Anibal Sanchez is 2 - 0 with a 1.42 ERA and is limiting opponents to a .152 batting average. The Angels on the other hand can contribute many of their losses to their poor pitching, as their pitching staff has a league-worst 6.07 ERA. Tommy Hanson is 1 - 1 with a 6.55 ERA so far this season.
