SFTC picks for Monday, April 8

Thank you for visiting our site.  We welcome you!  If you do not currently play ESPN's Streak for Cash or Streak It Up, which games these posts are based on, you can sign up for free for Streak for the Cash here and Streak It Up here.  We also invite you to join our groups and follow us on Twitter.

We also cover the game Beat the Streak on our baseball site.   We give 4 or 5 picks each day for you to choose from.  So far we are 14 - 4 in our BTS picks, so be sure and click on the Baseball Games tab to check them out.

If you haven't yet, we encourage you to follow us on Twitter and share our site with everyone you know.  We have gotten great support, especially during this past week, and we thank you so much for it!  We also encourage you to vote on our poll question (actually I guess if there are no votes that means the site is working perfectly :) ).  And don't forget to keep reading the James Lee Sports Report, you won't regret it.

The props marked with a * are featured on both Streak for the Cash and Streak It Up.  Otherwise these are all picks for Streak for the Cash.

Our top "stash" pick:
  1. *MLB:  Boston Red Sox
  2. NCAAM:  Russ Smith or Tie
Our picks for tomorrow:
  1. *Soccer:  Krasnodar Win
    • The last time these two played each other, Krasnodar won at home 6 - 1.  Krasnodar is favored in this match, and has won 3, lost 1, and drawn 1 out of their last 5.  Saransk has won 2 and lost 3 out of their last 5.  Krasdonar is in the 8th spot in the table while Saransk is in 15th.  Although Saransk did beat the #3 team Anzhi 2 - 0 on March 10, Krasnodar just beat them 4 - 0 on March 31.  All signs seem to point to a Krasnodar win.
    • Confidence: 70%
  2. *MLB:  Boston Red Sox
    • The line in this game is Red Sox - 140.  Buchholz will get the start for the Sox.  He had a great start in his first game, going 7 innings with a 1.29ERA against the Yankees.  Chen meanwhile only went 5.2 innings with a 3.18ERA in his first start (against the Rays).  Another reason for taking the Sox is that this is their first home game of the season.
    • Confidence:  80%
  3. Soccer:  Manchester United, Win
    • United has not lost a Premier League game since November.  They have already ran away with the EPL title and have given second place City no hope for retaining the league cup.  As much as I personally would love to see my favorite team, Manchester City, beat their hated rivals in the Manchester Derby, there is nothing to make me think that City has much hope in today's match.  There meeting back in December was a classic and took a late Robin van Persie goal to give United the late victory.  United is better, but City could keep it close, but I don't have much hope for City to get a win in the Derby.
    • Confidence: 70%
  4. Soccer:  17 or more or no Goal Scorer
    • So it all depends on who you think the first goal scorer will be.  If you think it'll be Rooney, Aguero, Dzeko, then pick 16 and under, if you think it'll be van Persie, Tevez, Silva or Toure, then pick 17 or more.  I think there are more options with 17 or more, so for that reason, I have to go with that pick, but it really is a toss up.
    • Confidence: 30%
  5. Soccer:  Manchester United
    • I would not make this pick until I see what the first half looks like.  If United has a 1 goal lead, I might expect City to attack more and get the first goal, but if City has a lead then I would put my money on United.  I have no idea what the first half will bring, so I have to put my money on United since they are the better team.
    • Confidence: 50%
  6. MLB:  Kansas City Royals
    • Both of these teams have dealt out some unexpected losses (by picking against them) this month on SFTC.  The Twins dealt a major leader board crash when they beat the Tigers, and quite a few streaks went down when the Royals beat the White Sox.  The line for this game is Royals -140.  Santana is new to the Royals this year, but he had a solid year last year with the Angels.  Another reason for picking the Royals is that this is their first home game of the season.  The Twins have talent though, so I wouldn't put a super high streak on this game.
    • Confidence:  60%
  7. *MLB:  New York Mets
    • I'm going out on a limb here and taking the Mets to win on the road.  I just can't see picking against Matt Harvey and for Roy Halladay.  Harvey went 7 innings, giving up just 1 hit and 0 runs to the Padres in his first start.  Halladay on the other hand, in his only start this season, went 3 1/3 innings against the Braves, giving up 5 hits and 6 runs.  I think Harvey will get the run support he needs and the Mets get the win.
    • Confidence:  50%
  8. MLB:  No home run hit during innings 1 - 3
    • The no option won last time this type of prop was featured on here.  If this was an innings 4 - 6 prop I may be more likely to take the yes option.  In all reality, this is a tossup though.
    • Confidence: 60%
  9. *NHL:  New York Rangers
    • Both of these teams are fighting for playoff position, both have similar overall records, and they match up pretty evenly.  This is a tough pick in my opinion, because I think they are equally likely to win.  I'm giving the edge to the Rangers though since they have won 4 straight in Toronto and their goalie has a better GAA.
    • Confidence:  40%
  10. *NCAAM:  Louisville Cardinals
    • Louisville is favored by 4.  They are almost everyone's pick to win the tournament, and chants and signs of "Win it for Ware" can be heard and seen across the country.  Michigan has a great shot at winning this game, but in the end, I think it is Louisville that comes out on top.  The bench for both teams came out huge on Saturday.  In fact, it's safe to say that without their benches, these teams would be heading home right now.  Instead they will play tomorrow for college basketball's coveted prize: the National Championship.
    • Confidence: 80%
  11. NCAAM:  Russ Smith or Tie
    • To be honest, I'm not sure why Russ Smith has the tie option here.  This seems like too easy of a pick.  Maybe the SM knows something we don't.  Russ Smith has been on a tear through this tournament, averaging 25 points per game.  He didn't have a great first half on Saturday, but Trey Burke had a terrible half, at least as far as points are concerned.  Burke usually score most of his points in the second halves of games, so unless something changes by tomorrow, I'm picking Russ Smith or tie with confidence.
    • Confidence: 90%
  12. NCAAM:  70 points or more
    • Both of these teams can definitely score, and score big.  Louisville averages 73.6 ppg, and Michigan 75.2.  Divide those in half and you get 74.4 per half.  This game will most likely be a close game, in which case free throws and attempted 3s at the end will contribute heavily to the over.  Still, you will want to see how the first half goes and get a feel for the game and the style of play.  Our pick may change, so come back and check at or before halftime.
    • Confidence: 70%
