STFC pick for Wednesday May 8th

Yesterday I gave you 5 solid winners and well, only three of them turned out to actually be solid.  But 3 for 5, if I was a big league hitter, you would say I had a great night, especially since all three of those winning picks were underdog picks according to the SFTC percentages.  So not only was it like a good night at bat, it was a good night against a tough pitcher, a Cy Young pitcher, lets say RA Dickey.  Oh wait, RA Dickey is playing awful this season, umm, sorry, bad analogy.
Anyways, lets go with some more winners for today.  Here you go kids:

1) MLB: St. Louis Cardinals
Pitching for the Cards today is Westbrook.  That's right, after injuring himself against the Rockets, Russell Westbrook will be taking the mound for the Cardinals against the Cubs.  Oh shoot, I did it again, this isn't Russell, this is Jake Westbrook, and he's white, and he wears Kevin Durant's number 35, dude, I messed that one up.  Anyways, Westbrook is looking good this year with a 1.07 ERA.  Not only has Westbrook been pitching well but as of late the team as a whole has been hitting well.  The Cubs have Villanueva on the mound tonight who himself is having a good season with a 2.85 ERA.  Should be a good matchup but I gotta give it to the red birds in this division rivalry.

2) MLB: San Diego Padres
This is not so much a pick for the Padres as it is a pick against the Marlins.  Miami is as expected, not very good.  The Padres are a bit above expectations and have shown they can beat teams better than them.  They have won series against the Diamondbacks and have swept the Giants in a series.  Currently riding a 3 game winning streak I expect the Padres to keep that going against the not so good Marlins.

3) NBA: Heat win by double digits
Lets just get one thing out there, the Heat are not going to lose both games at home to Chicago.  They will win tonight, and you can take that to the bank.  The only question is by how much?  Will it be a close game in the 4th or will the big three step up on both ends of the court and run away with it against the still injured Bulls?  I think this will be one of the many Lebrons eff you games he has had in his career where he shuts up his critics and reminds everyone that he is not only the best player in the game today but one of the greatest of all time.Depending on how much Wade is able to contribute, Bron bron may be in for a 40 pointer tonight.  I would not be shocked to see the Heat sweep the rest of the series, similar to how they finished off last years Finals.

4) NBA: Warriors, Three pointers made or tie
To pick the Spurs winning margin means that you believe the Spurs will win this game.  I am very intrigued by this series.  Lets think back to 2008 when the Spurs took on the Suns in the first round of the playoffs.  The Suns were winning the first game on the road and had a similar collapse to that of the Warriors.  The only difference was that they did not lose a 16 point lead with less than 4 minutes remaining, no that is a first in NBA playoff history.  The Suns did lose the lead in a game they should have won, the game eventually went to Overtime and thanks to a miracle 3 by Duncan as the clock was nearing expiration, the Spurs sent it to a second OT and eventually won.  The Suns could never recover and lost the series in 5.  What I am trying to say is that the Spurs have already set a precedence for what happens in a series after a devastating game 1 loss.  Having said all that, I think the Warriors win tonight, or at least keep it very close.  They lost a heart breaker against the Nuggets in game one of round one and came back to destroy the Nuggets in game two.  I think the world expects the Warriors to roll over, but they are too young to know what conventional wisdom expects of them.  Plus, the Dubs will make plenty of 3's.
